Subjects Taught
4th Grade

I have a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University in Kansas.  I am certified ESL and GT.

This is my 28th year to teach at ROE and in the Red Oak Independent School District.  I have spent 25 years mainly teaching 4th grade math.

I grew up in south central Kansas as the daughter of a doctor and a nurse.  I have an older brother and a younger sister and 50+ first cousins.  I attended Emporia State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  I moved to Red Oak my first year out of college and have been at ROE ever since.  I spent 22 years teaching as Ms. Porter and then I married my husband in November of 2011. (Probably the craziest thing I ever did, marrying at Thanksgiving time!)  My last name rhymes with ocean but that doesn't stop the kids from trying to call me Mrs. Quotient - something only a math teacher would love!

I have two step-children and a grandson  Easton "Sugerbuger" who is the light of my life.  I have three dogs, two cats, and a miniature donkey to keep me entertained and busy.  I love to cook, play volleyball, and spend time with my family.  I like reality TV shows like Face Off and Project Runway.   My favorite place in the world is my family's cabin outside LaVeta, Colorado that is old, fragile, and is the most beautiful place in the world to me.
